As the government continues it’s third week of shutdown, the IRS confirmed today that the 2019 filing season will begin January 28, 2019 and provide refunds as scheduled. Currently, IRS workers have been furloughed as part of the government shutdown, but many will be recalled. The IRS continues to strongly recommend electronic filing of returns to minimize errors and for refunds to be processed quicker.
